www.planttreesaveplanet.com in January 2006 donated £250 to the SOS Children's Villages in Awassa Ethiopia.

SOS Village farm in Awassa, Ethiopia.  This donation has helped children learning how to grow plants at the SOS farm.

They have put up a new greenhouse.  Older children learn about floriculture and how to nurture seedlings to make sure they grow.

Learning how to grow plants and crops will be a very valuable and employable skill for these teenagers.

In the future, SOS Village Farm hopes to extend this project so that women from the poor local community can learn these skills too, so they can grow their own food and become more self-sufficient and independent.

Our latest update confirms that the Village farm has continued its great contribution for the village children and the surrounding community- providing dairy and vegetable products.

Most of the products produced in the farm are in a great improvement and are making some money for its running costs.

Under the village farm programme, the SOS village has now conducted training on the green house management for 60 female headed households from the surrounding community.
